Man Arrested After Pushing Woman Into Bathtub

(MITCHELL) – A North Manchester man was arrested on a warrant after he allegedly injured a woman on February 1 in Mitchell.

Andrew Asbury

Police arrested 28-year-old Andrew Asbury on a charge of domestic battery causing bodily injury.

According to a probable cause affidavit on February 1, a female came to the Mitchell Police Department to report she had been injured by Andrew Asbury.

She explained she and Asbury engaged in an argument after Asbury burned ultrasound photos of their soon to be child. She stated Asbury pushed her down into a bathtub and bruised her ribs. She reported she was fearful of Asbury’s next actions.

The female reported the two were visiting with friends at a home on Dale Street on February 1. Asbury had fallen asleep. He then awakened angry and wanted to leave. As Asbury went outside to start his jeep, the female went into bathroom. Once back inside, Asbury entered the bathroom, threw a light at the female and pushed her into the bathtub.

The female also reported that Asbury has threatened her in the past should she speak of his abusive behavior to anyone. The female also stated Asbury has hurt her on numerous occasions, but she was too afraid to report the incidents.

Police say the female had dark bruising across her right side from hitting the bathtub.

The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for Asbury’s arrest.
