Johnson County Officials Investigate Inmate Death

(JOHNSON CO.) – Officials are investigating after a female inmate who died Thursday at the Johnson County Jail

Inmates called correctional officers for help after finding the female inmate unresponsive.

Correctional officers administered CPR until Franklin Fire & Rescue and a Seals ambulance crew arrived on the scene and took over. All efforts were unsuccessful. The inmate was pronounced dead at the scene.

Johnson County Coroner Michael Pruitt and Sheriff’s department are investigating the cause of death.

On Friday, the sheriff’s department reported the initial autopsy was inconclusive. No foul play is suspected and no physical harm was uncovered. Toxicology information will take six to eight weeks to receive.
