Indianapolis Symphonic Choir to Host Free Virtual Gala February 23

(INDIANAPOLIS) – The Indianapolis Symphonic Choir will host its first-ever virtual Gala Bel Canto: We’ll Meet Again on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m.

The live stream event, which comes in lieu of the Choir’s annual in-person gala due to ongoing COVID-19 precautions, will feature a limited silent auction, mobile bidding, and two performances by the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir.

The event is free to access, but attendees are encouraged to register in advance.

To register or make a donation, visit https://one.bidpal.net/gbc2021.

Proceeds benefit the organization’s support of music education and community engagement programs, which include the Spotlight Choir initiative with high school choral programs; the Conducting Fellowship providing mentorship opportunities for the next generation of choral conductors (in collaboration with Butler University); the Christmas Carol Commission Competition for young composers; and the In-Choir-Ing Minds series which features guest artists and scholars alongside Indianapolis Symphonic Choir Artistic Director Dr. Eric Stark, offering insight into music that will be performed during upcoming concerts.

Despite changes and limitations to its season caused by ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir has continued to find ways to reach audiences over the last year, hosting a variety of virtual choir performances, an outdoor socially-distanced Community Sing event, and broadcasting the annual Festival of Carols holiday performance on MyINDY-TV 23.

“The Indianapolis Symphonic Choir has been actively creating and providing choral music for our community throughout the pandemic,” said Executive Director Liam Bonner. “From pivoting to virtual choir performances and outdoor events to the television broadcast of our annual Festival of Carols, the organization has been dedicated to keeping the music going – safely! All of this has been made possible through the generous support of our donors and we are most grateful. Gala Bel Canto, a highlight of our season, will also be reimagined and we hope you’ll join us as we raise funds to support the crucial education and community engagement programming the Choir provides.”

Gala Bel Canto: We’ll Meet Again is sponsored by Katz, Sapper & Miller, and Bose McKinney & Evans LLP.
