(GREENE CO.) – A scammer is calling Greene County residents claiming to be Lt. Wade with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
On Monday morning, several people received calls.
Officials are saying the scammer is telling residents they have a warrant out for their arrest and they need to turn themselves in or that they need to go to the department to give a DNA sample.
The Greene County Sheriff Department does not call anyone telling them they are wanted on a warrant or they need to give a DNA sample.
Police say these scammers are using multiple numbers and they are not able to be traced.
If you receive a call you can alert the Greene County Sheriff’s Department at 812-384-4411 and choose option 1 for dispatch.
