(BEDFORD) – “ If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14.
Lakindra Harper started a Community Prayer Circle in May, inviting the community and area churches to pray around the flag pole on the Lawrence County Courthouse lawn. So far seven area churches and up to 17 people show up on average to the prayer circle.
Prayer requests are taken and then all in the circle lift up prayers. The prayer meeting lasts between 30 to 40 minutes depending on the number of people who attend.
“Prayers are given out for local, state, and federal political leaders to make right decisions, prayers for the local community especially for those with substance abuse issues, and families of loved ones who have substance abuse issues, healing for those battling health issues, and most of all a revival for the community to turn back to God,” said Lakindra Harper.
“No government agency has sanctioned the prayer meeting,” Harper added.
“This was just started by a group of people interested in praying for the community,” she says.
Several denominations are represented as they come together as one to pray.
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. ” James 5:16
