Enhanced wage reporting update: FAQ and file specifications now available

INDIANA – The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) has published additional guidance and technical specifications to help employers prepare for enhanced wage reporting beginning with 4Q2026.

As previously communicated, additional information will be needed as part of quarterly wage reporting, including:

  • Job Title
  • Hours Paid
  • Reporting Unit Number (RUN)
  • Apprenticeship and internship status

Also, beginning with 4Q2026 reporting, the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) code reported must align with the 2018 system.

What is new: DWD has published updated FAQs, CSV, and ICESA file specifications, and sample templates to assist with implementation; see Indiana Unemployment for Employers: Enhanced Wage Records.

Please review the updated guidance and determine whether changes are needed to your payroll or HR systems. If you use a payroll provider or TPA, we encourage you to share these resources with them.

Please note that the files using the new specifications should not be uploaded before January 1, 2027. The first enhanced wage report covers 4Q2026 and is due January 31, 2027. Additional information will continue to be updated on our Unemployment for Employers webpage.
