COLUMBUS – This morning, Detectives from the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post arrested a 32-year-old Bartholomew County man on a charge related to a criminal incident that occurred in Decatur County, Indiana, three months prior.
Indiana State Police Detective Jason Duncan began an investigation after a victim reported being battered at a property in Decatur County in August 2026. At the conclusion of the investigation, the case was presented to the Decatur County Prosecutor’s Office for review. As a result, a warrant was issued for the arrest of the alleged suspect.
This morning, detectives arrested Brian M. Vaillancourt, age 32, at his residence in Columbus, Indiana, on the warrant for one count of Sexual Battery, Level 6 Felony. Officers from the Columbus Police Department assisted in the arrest. He was transported to the Decatur County Jail, where he was incarcerated pending an initial appearance in court.
Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
