Koch named Senate Majority Floor Leader

STATEHOUSE — State Sen. Eric Koch (R-Bedford) has been appointed Senate Majority Floor Leader Wednesday by Senate President Pro Tempore-elect Chris Garten (R-Charlestown).

As Senate Majority Floor Leader, Koch will hold the second highest-ranking leadership position in the Senate Majority Caucus. The majority floor leader is tasked with establishing rules of decorum for the Senate floor, updating and enforcing the rules of the Senate, presiding over the Senate when the Lieutenant Governor and President Pro Tempore are unavailable, and advancing the majority party’s legislative agenda through the chamber.

“I want to thank Sen. Garten and our caucus for putting their trust in me to serve in this important role in the Senate,” Koch said.

“A strong, united caucus requires a high-caliber leadership team, and there is no one more qualified to share in that responsibility than Senator Eric Koch,” Garten said. “Eric is an elite strategist, an accomplished attorney, and a deeply respected leader with judgment beyond reproach. In the floor leader seat, he will be a powerful driver of our conservative agenda for Hoosiers.”

Organization Day will be on Nov. 17, the ceremonial start of the 2027 session. Members of the public can view calendars, proposed legislation, livestreamed meetings, and more online at iga.in.gov.
