BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY — The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department has expressed its gratitude following the donation of a new tactical ballistic shield from a nationwide law enforcement organization.
According to the sheriff’s department, the United States Deputy Sheriffs Association (USDSA) donated a Level III ballistic shield to bolster local officer safety.

The specialized equipment is engineered to protect law enforcement personnel against high-velocity rifle rounds. Deputies utilize such shields during high-risk entries, active threat responses, and other critical incidents where officers may encounter armed suspects.
Department officials noted that support from national organizations like the USDSA plays a vital role in equipping deputies with the advanced protection necessary to safely navigate dangerous situations in the line of duty.
