Lawrence County residents reminded of fall property tax deadline and payment options

BEDFORD — Lawrence County property owners are reminded that the fall property tax installment (second installment) is due on November 6, 2026. Local officials have outlined several convenient payment methods and important details regarding deadlines and penalties.

Taxpayers can choose from multiple ways to settle their accounts:

  • Online: Payments can be made via the official Lawrence County Tax Payment Website (processing fees apply).
  • By Phone: Homeowners can call the toll-free payment line at 1-888-654-3143 (a property number and processing fees are required).
  • In Person: Visit the Lawrence County Treasurer’s Office, located in Room 27 of the Lawrence County Courthouse. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Drop Box: A secure payment drop box is available by the Treasurer’s door inside the courthouse. Residents using this option should include their payment coupon and contact info inside a sealed envelope.
  • Local Banks: Most local banks throughout the county will accept payments if taxpayers bring their physical tax bill with them.

Penalties and Late Fees

Property owners are encouraged to submit payments on time to avoid statutory penalties. Under Indiana law, late payments are typically subject to a 5% penalty for the first 30 days following the due date, and a 10% penalty thereafter.
