INDIANA — A new safety recall has been announced for specific light vehicle tires due to a dangerous defect that could lead to tread separation.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued the alert under recall ID 26T015, involving certain Otani tires distributed by Foreign Tire Sales, Inc.
The recall impacts Otani tires in size 235/65R-16(C). According to safety regulators, the tread on these tires may separate, which violates federal safety regulations under Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 139, “New Pneumatic Radial Tires for Light Vehicles.”

Tread separation poses a severe hazard to motorists, as it can cause a sudden loss of vehicle control and significantly increase the risk of a crash.
Foreign Tire Sales, Inc. will replace the recalled tires free of charge. Owner notification letters are scheduled to begin mailing out to registered vehicle and tire owners.
Vehicle owners can check specific tire details by using the NHTSA Recall Look-up Tool or by reaching out directly to Foreign Tire’s customer service hotline at 1-908-687-0559 for more information and remedy instructions.
