Two hospitalized following three-vehicle crash involving semi on State Road 54

GREENE COUNTY — Two drivers were transported to the hospital Thursday morning following a three-vehicle chain-reaction crash along West State Road 54 in Greene County.

According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the scene at approximately 7:53 a.m. on Oct. 29, 2026, near the intersection of West State Road 54 and North County Road 250 West.

An initial investigation revealed that a 2006 semi tractor-trailer, driven by Ronald Hollars of Bedford, was stopped in traffic waiting to make a left-hand turn onto County Road 250 West. A 2023 Kia Sorento, operated by Carmen Jackson of Bloomfield, was stopped in line behind the semi.

Deputies said a 2011 Dodge Durango, driven by Shauna Mahurin of Oaktown, failed to stop in time and struck the rear of Jackson’s Kia. The force of the impact pushed the Kia forward into the rear of the semi-trailer.

Both Jackson and Mahurin sustained injuries and were transported to Greene County General Hospital by the Greene County Ambulance Service for treatment. The condition of the drivers has not been released, and the operator of the semi was not reported injured.

Traffic along State Road 54 was restricted to a single lane for roughly one hour while emergency personnel worked to clear the scene and investigate the crash.

The incident remains under investigation by the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.

Assisting at the scene were the Switz City Fire Department, Greene County Ambulance Service, Air Evac Lifeteam, and Rusty’s Towing.
