Culvert replacement scheduled for Payton Road on October 29 and 30

BEDFORD — The Lawrence County Highway Department has announced scheduled culvert replacement work along Payton Road for Thursday, Oct. 29, and Friday, Oct. 30.

According to Lawrence County Highway Department Superintendent Brian D. Sowder, crews will be replacing culverts in the 1100 block and 1400 block of Payton Road.

Work is to begin shortly after 8:00 a.m. each day. Highway officials plan to execute the repairs after heavy morning commuter traffic and aim to complete the work before school lets out in the afternoon, provided no unforeseen complications arise. The road will remain open up to the active construction area while repairs are underway.

“We strive to replace all culverts after the heavy morning traffic and complete the work before school is released,” Sowder stated, extending appreciation to area motorists for their patience during the brief disruptions.

Drivers traveling near the 1100 and 1400 blocks of Payton Road on Thursday and Friday are advised to exercise caution and allow extra time for potential short delays.
