BEDFORD — The Lawrence County Independent Schools (LCIS) Board of Directors will convene on Thursday, October 29, 2026, for both a private executive session and a public board meeting.

The evening will begin at 5:00 p.m. with an executive session at the school facility located at 223 Old Farm Road in Bedford. According to the public notice, board members will meet behind closed doors to discuss the assessment, design, and implementation of school safety and security measures, plans, and systems.
The closed-door session is held pursuant to Indiana Code § 5-14-1.5-6.1(b)(3), which permits governing bodies to meet privately on matters concerning school security. As required by state law, the executive session is not open to the public, and no official votes or final actions will be taken during this time.
Following the private discussion, the Board of Directors will host its regular public board meeting starting at 6:00 p.m. at the same location. Parents, staff, and community members are invited to attend the public portion of the evening.
The notice was issued in compliance with the Indiana Open Door Law (IC 5-14-1.5-5 and IC 5-14-1.5-6.1), which governs public access to meetings of government and charter school boards across the state.
