Pearl E. Rains, 91, of Bedford, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026, at White River Lodge in Bedford.
Born February 13, 1935, in Burns City, Indiana, she was the daughter of David W. and Violet M. (Fortner) Brassine. Pearl married Franklin D. Rains on April 20th, of 1957, and he preceded her in death on November 17, 2011. She was a member of Oolitic Church of Christ. She loved being a mom, grandma, and Grammy.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Ann Rains of Bedford; two grandchildren, Luke Rains and his wife Lindsey of Paoli, and Amber Knight and her husband Allen of Springville; four great-grandchildren, Garrett and Hunter Rains, Evelyn and Aubrey Knight; a sister, Ann Wilson of Greenfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son Franklin Brent Rains, her parents, and four siblings: Opal Brassine, Ruby Pritchett, Mary Bell Shadle, and Patty Moore.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, October 28th, at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Williams. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday at Day & Carter Mortuary. Friends and family may express condolences at www.daycarter.com.
