BEDFORD — Two Bedford residents have been issued court summonses after allegedly failing to pay for over $200 worth of merchandise at a local retail store.
Donnie S. Quillen, 52, and Bobby V. Quillen, 45, were cited for theft following an incident at the Bedford Walmart on October 3, 2026, according to probable cause affidavits filed by Officer Brian Sorrells of the Bedford Police Department.
Police were dispatched to the store after Walmart Asset Protection staff detained two individuals for suspected shoplifting. An asset protection officer told police he observed the pair via self-checkout surveillance footage with unbagged items in their shopping cart.
According to store personnel, the couple scanned several items but made no attempt to scan others. Although a store employee intervened and paused the transaction, the pair allegedly completed payment for only the scanned goods before passing all final points of purchase with $227.44 in unpaid merchandise, including tax.
Asset Protection staff intercepted the couple at the exit and brought them to the store’s security office, where responding officers advised them of their Miranda rights. Both individuals acknowledged their rights and provided statements to police regarding the incident.
Donnie Quillen and Bobby Quillen were each issued an Information and Summons to appear in Lawrence Superior Court I on October 27, 2026, at 1:30 p.m.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This article is based on the information provided in the probable cause affidavit and does not represent a final determination of guilt or innocence.
