
MOORESVILLE – Bedford North Lawrence ended a nine-year postseason slump with a thrilling 2-1 triumph over Terre Haute South during girls high school soccer action on Tuesday night.
The Stars produced the go-ahead goal from Summer Hughes with 10:23 left while advancing to the Class 3A semifinal with their first sectional win since 2017. BNL (11-4-1) also extended its amazing streak to 12 consecutive games without a loss.
After a scoreless first half, BNL freshman Jenna Mullis broke through with a goal at 25:52. The Braves (2-14-1) posted the equalizer on a goal by Jenelle West with 22:44 left. Hughes found the net for the eventual game winner.
BNL will face Bloomington South, which blasted Martinsville 9-0 in first round, in the semifinal on Wednesday. The Panthers improved to 9-5-3 while the Artesians finished 3-15. In the other semifinal, Terre Haute North (8-7-2) will tangle with Mooresville (5-9-2).
