OOLITIC — Town officials in Oolitic have issued an urgent notice regarding trash collection scheduled for Thursday, September 17, 2026. Due to dangerous temperatures expected in the area, collection services may run on a modified schedule to protect the safety of sanitation workers.
To accommodate the schedule shift, local officials are instructing all residents to have their trash placed at the curb no later than 6:00 a.m. on Thursday morning.
The early deadline will allow collection crews to complete as much of their routes as possible during the cooler morning hours before extreme afternoon heat sets in.
Due to the modified operations, town officials noted that some routes may not be completed. Residents whose trash is not collected on Thursday due to the altered schedule are advised to leave their waste covered or store it securely, as it will be picked up during the next regularly scheduled collection on Thursday, September 24.
