JACKSON COUNTY — Two Southern Indiana residents lost their lives Saturday afternoon following a three-vehicle collision along State Road 135 in Jackson County.
Deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department responded at approximately 2:14 p.m. to emergency reports of a serious crash in the 2600 block of South State Road 135, located just south of Vallonia.
According to an official release from the sheriff’s department, the crash involved three vehicles: a black 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, a black 2019 Dodge Journey SUV, and a white 2023 Toyota Camry.
Investigators identified the motorcycle operator as 35-year-old Brandon Goodhue of Campbellsburg. His passenger was identified as 26-year-old Desiree L. Freiberger of Greenville.
A preliminary investigation indicates that Goodhue was operating the Harley-Davidson southbound on State Road 135 while the Dodge Journey was traveling northbound. The motorcycle made contact with the northbound Dodge Journey before entering the northbound lane and colliding with the oncoming Toyota Camry.
Both Goodhue and Freiberger sustained fatal injuries in the impact and were pronounced dead at the scene by Jackson County Deputy Coroner Todd Brumfield.
Reconstruction specialists with the Indiana State Police were called to assist at the scene. The exact cause of the collision remains under joint investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police.
