Kathy Sue Philpott, 63, of Bedford, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Redcrest Hospice House in Bloomington.
Born July 23, 1963, in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Phillip Deckard and Anna (Wall) Goins. Kathy married William “Bill’ Philpott on September 30, 1978, and he passed away on August 12, 2025; they would have celebrated 48 years of marriage this year. She was a caregiver at heart. She especially enjoyed her time working in long-term care. She was a CNA for over 30 years and had so many memories of her residents, co- workers, and her Cook friends.
She is survived by her mother, Anna Goins; three children, William (Elizabeth) Philpott Jr., Robert (Mindy) Philpott Sr., and Amber (Michael) Staggs; grandchildren, Jeremy Fizer, Jessica Fizer, Jacob (Mallory) Fizer, Jared (Sarah) Fizer, Ashleigh (Zach) See, Alexis (Clayton) Evers, Brianna Philpott, William Philpott III, Robert (Leah) Philpott Jr., Emily (Austin) Sullivan, Ian Philpott, Cash Philpott, Megan Jeter, Wyatt Philpott, Eli (Alexus) Staggs, Ava, Hannah, Madalyn, and Callie Staggs; great-grandchildren, Blake, Zoe, Savannah, Raelyn, Nolan, Tucker, Hallie, Addilyn Keyona; siblings, Teresa Caves, Butch Deckard, Kimberly Bridges, Sharon Gann; beloved dogs, Hoss and Little Lady; several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father and her husband, Bill.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19th, at Day & Carter Mortuary with Brother Aaron Swafford officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at Day & Carter Mortuary.
