INDIANA – Indiana hunters and parents are being reminded to make sure deer harvested by youth hunters are checked in under the correct account.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says it has noticed parents frequently checking in deer on their own accounts rather than using their child’s account. The proper check-in process depends on the child’s age.
For youth hunters under the age of 13 who are linked to a parent’s account, there are several ways to check in a deer:
- Call 260-368-5880 at no charge. Parents will need the child’s Customer ID number and date of birth.
- Use the CheckIN Game option on GoOutdoorsIN.com without logging in. The child’s Customer ID number, or the last four digits of the child’s Social Security number, along with the child’s last name and date of birth, will be required.
- Parents who are logged into their GoOutdoorsIN.com account must first switch to the youth’s account through the Youth Association option. This can be done by selecting “Customer Group/Youth Association,” choosing the “Youth Association” tab, and then selecting the child’s Customer ID number. A new screen will open where the child’s harvest can be checked in.
If a child’s name does not appear under the parent’s account, the child’s account must first be connected to the parent’s account.
The DNR also says that if “Manage Account” does not appear next to the child’s name, parents can email inhuntfish@dnr.IN.gov for assistance or unlink and then re-link the child’s account. When re-linking the account, parents should select “Account Manager.”
For hunters age 13 or older who are linked to a parent’s account, there are two check-in options.
Parents can call 260-368-5880 at no charge with the hunter’s Customer ID number and date of birth.
They can also use the CheckIN Game button on the GoOutdoorsIN.com homepage without logging in. The hunter’s Customer ID number, or the last four digits of their Social Security number, last name and date of birth will be required.
The DNR encourages parents to pay close attention to whose account is being used when checking in a youth’s deer to ensure the harvest is properly recorded under the young hunter’s information.
