INDIANA — Dolly Parton’s legacy of helping children discover the joy of reading continues to make an impact across the region through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
Following the loss of the legendary entertainer and philanthropist, local supporters are reflecting on the lasting impact of her work — including the thousands of children who receive books each month through the program.
Through a local partnership, approximately 2,600 children across the region are currently enrolled in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, receiving more than 31,000 free books this year alone.
The program provides children from birth through age 5 with a free, age-appropriate book delivered to their homes each month. The goal is to help children develop early literacy skills while encouraging families to read together and fostering a lifelong love of books.
Keeping Dolly’s Vision Alive
For many local families, the monthly books offer more than just a new story. Over time, children can build their own home libraries while developing important skills that can help prepare them for school. The program is provided at no cost to participating families, making it possible for children from all backgrounds to have access to quality children’s books.

A gift of just $32 provides a full year of books for one child, helping encourage literacy, family reading time, and a love of learning. Those interested in supporting the program can also enroll an eligible child to receive monthly books.
