New Albany rolls to 9-0 victory over BNL

NEW ALBANY – New Albany rolled to a 9-0 win over Bedford North Lawrence during girls high school soccer action on Saturday.

The Bulldogs cruised to a 4-0 lead at halftime, then triggered the mercy rule with five goals in the second half. Bailey Belden paced New Albany with four goals and two assists while Clara Railey added three goals.

Riley Belden (who had four assists) and Tess Chrisman capped the scoring for the Bulldogs, now 3-2 after winning their Hoosiers Hills Conference opener. New Albany owned a 34-2 advantage in shots.

”This stretch of our schedule is very challenging and currently has us on our heels,” BNL coach Jordan Himmelspach said. “We are continuing to look for opportunities for improvement, with our girls already looking to the next day to improve. Good things will come with this team, we just have to keep our heads up.”

BNL (0-4 overall, 0-2 in the HHC) will visit Owen Valley on Tuesday.
