ELLETTSVILLE — A 49-year-old Bloomington man lost his life Thursday evening following a two-vehicle collision at an intersection just west of Ellettsville.
According to officials from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, emergency responders were dispatched to the intersection of North Starnes Road and West Reeves Road around 7:45 p.m. on Aug. 20.
Deputies reported that the victim was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound on North Starnes Road when he collided within the intersection with a westbound Ford Fusion sedan.
The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and died from those injuries. Law enforcement has not publicly released the victim’s identity pending family notifications.
The driver of the Ford Fusion, identified as a 16-year-old girl from Spencer, Indiana, remained at the scene following the impact and is cooperating with investigating officers.
Members of the Monroe County Major Crash Investigation Team responded to the crash site to analyze evidence and reconstruct the collision. The investigation into the exact cause of the crash remains ongoing.
