Peggy A. (Conley) Ritchison, 89, of Bedford died on Monday, August 3, 2026, at the home of her daughter.
Born March 26, 1937, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Francis Luther “Pat” and Grace Minnie (Rodgers) Conley; she was one of five sisters and one brother. At the age of 19, she married Don Ritchison on August 4, 1956, and he preceded her in death in 2000.
She and Don were blessed with five children, 16 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, eight bonus great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and seven bonus great-great-grandchildren; she taught them all everything she knew, especially that family comes first. Peggy worked at RCA before devoting her life to being a stay-at- home mom. Her family was her world.
Peggy enjoyed fishing at the river, camping, traveling, making wine, canning, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Ritchison; parents, Francis and Grace Conley; great-grandson Johnny Johnson III; daughter-in-law, Terri Ritchison; sisters: Connie Crosby and husband Reid, Patsy Sons and husband Harold, Hattie Armstrong, Joe Armstrong, Katie Conley; a brother, Edward Conley; brother-in-law, Orville “Buck” Coulter.
Survivors include her five children: Rick Ritchison and partner, Beth Anderson, Doug Ritchison, Tim Ritchison and wife Geanna, Tina True and husband Kevin, Lynette Batman; grandchildren: Amber Jones, Mandy Ritchison, Cassi Ritchison, Tabitha Haas and husband Shawn, Tyler Ritchison and wife Ivelisse, Tiffany Thomas and husband Trevon, Jesse Ritchison and partner Joey Kidd, Dakota Ritchison and wife Miranda, Christy Adviento and husband Antonio, Pat Ritchison and partner Sheila Kellams, Lisa Batman and partner Landon Keithley, Lana Wright and husband Ryan, Charlie Batman, Jeremie True, Peggy Kern and husband Travis, Daniel True and partner Nikki Luallen; great-grandchildren: Michael Ritchison and partner Rebecca Ney, Garrett Jones, Sean Jones, Logan Streich and partner Annera Fitch, Alex Streich, Mykah Streich and partner Lucas, Lyric Adviento, Hayden Wright, Cydnee Wright, Lincoln Wright, Marlee Wright, Bruce Engleking, Channlor Engleking, Gage Engleking, Ava Keithley, Jasper Keithley, and Emmalynn Keithley, Dominique Woodruff, Kelby Ritchison, Molly Ritchison, Sophie Lemmons, Sydnie Lemmons, Sage Lemmons, Ella Ritchison, Cora Ritchison, Koda Ritchison, Elaina Ritchison, Bobby Philpott and wife Lea, Emily Philpott, Jane Philpott, Khyslynn Thomas, Xyleigh Thomas, Alesis Thomas, Ethany Fisher and husband Kylar, Sailor Cain, Ellie Maddox, Aiden True, D.J. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Jason Walsh officiating. Burial will follow in Crawford Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 6 th and from Noon until the service hour on Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
