MITCHELL – Area seniors looking to improve their strength, flexibility and balance will have an opportunity to do so through a free fitness program beginning in August at the Mitchell Community Public Library.

The four-week Senior Fitness program is open to adults ages 60 and older and will feature group exercise sessions focused on light stretching, strengthening exercises and balance training. The classes are designed to help older adults stay active while improving mobility and overall wellness in a supportive group environment.
Classes will be held on Fridays at 1 p.m. at the Mitchell Community Public Library on the following dates:
- Aug. 21
- Aug. 28
- Sept. 4
- Sept. 11
The program will be instructed by Staci Fiddler, and all materials needed for the classes will be provided at no cost to participants.
The Senior Fitness program is sponsored by Hoosier Uplands and the Mitchell Community Public Library.
Those interested in participating are encouraged to register in advance by calling 812-849-2412. Individuals with questions about the program may contact Fiddler directly at 812-797-6329.
Organizers hope the free classes will provide seniors with an opportunity to stay physically active, improve balance and strength, and connect with others in the community.
