WHITFIELD — Former students and teachers from Loogootee Public Schools and St. John’s are preparing to gather this Saturday for a milestone weekend, as the community marks the 50th annual Loogootee Schools Alumni Celebration.
This year’s event features a celebration at St. Martin Hall in Whitfield, moving from its traditional venue at the St. John’s Center in Loogootee following extensive flooding caused by a busted water pipe.
Organizers have set a patriotic theme for this year’s gathering in honor of the United States’ 250th birthday.
The festivities will also shine a spotlight on the Bicentennial Loogootee High School Class of 1976, which is being recognized as this year’s 50-year honor class.
The big weekend officially kicks off early Saturday morning with the Ring of Honor Golf Outing at Country Oaks Golf Club.

All alumni of Loogootee Public Schools and St. John’s, as well as former teachers, are encouraged to submit their RSVPs as soon as possible if they plan to attend.
