Cecil L. York, 78, of Bedford, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2026.
Born on February 2, 1948, in Orleans, Indiana, Cecil was the son of Willis and Nellie (Hutsler) York. He married Barbara Richardson on March 26, 1966, and she preceded him on November 6, 2025.
Cecil was a shop foreman at Sigma Steel as well as a welder at Indiana Steel before retiring in 2012. Cecil loved motorcycles, classic cars, western movies, and The Andy Griffith Show. He was of the Baptist Faith, and most of all, loved spending time with his family.
Cecil is survived by his two sons, Brian (Deanna) York and Bruce (Aleah) York; one daughter, Barby (Tommy) Grubb; six grandchildren, Jacqueline, Abigal, Zackary, Jacob, Makayla and Sean; one great-grandson, Hunter; five brothers, Jerry York, David York, Charlie York, Buddy York and Frank Parsons; four sisters, Patricia, Rosemary, Linda and Debbie; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Nellie (Hutsler) York; his wife, Barbara York; three brothers, John York, Raymond York and Eddie York; and two sisters, Connie and Marsha.
Funeral Services for Cecil will be held at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne Family Funeral Homes on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Joshua Lutz officiating. Burial will follow at Dive Cemetery in Bedford, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., also at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
