Dwight L. Padgett, 76, of Mitchell, passed on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at IU Health in Bloomington. Dwight was born in Greene County on November 4, 1949, to Leland Padgett, Jr., and Mary Jean (Craig) Chinn. Dwight married Debra Grimes on February 2, 1991, and she survives.
Dwight retired from NWSC Crane, and he was a US Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Debra (Grimes) Padgett of Mitchell, two sons, Jason Dwight Padgett of Owensburg, and Joshua Emerson Padgett of Owensburg, special god daughter, Kennedy Coulter, one sister, Diane Padgett (Mary Lou Schmit) of Bloomington, one brother, Jeff (Joann) Padgett of Owensburg, one sister-in-law, Susie Padgett Pegg of Spencer, nieces and nephews, Jeffrey Padgett, Teyia Allen, and Missy Daab.
Dwight was preceded in death by his father, Leland Padgett, Jr., his mother, Mary Jean (Craig) Chinn, one brother, Wayne L. Padgett, and one daughter-in- law, Juanita Padgett.
