Tabula Rasa Taekwondo students excel in the classroom at accelerated rate

BEDFORD- Kenneth and Elizabeth Britt are passionate about passing on their knowledge to keep the art of Taekwondo alive and thriving. They run the company Tabula Rasa LLC, which takes in a select number of students to teach them traditions that have been passed down through the ages. They hold traditional teaching in such high regard that Grand Masters in Korea accredit them, and they must travel there every few years to be recertified to pass on the art. The outcome of the discipline and study required by Tabula Rasa is evident in the success of its students in the classroom.

Recent BNL HS graduate Logan Perry was presented with a $1500 scholarship towards his college education, Monday, July 6. Logan graduated in May after receiving $7500 in scholarships from the BNL Scholarship Foundation. Logan has already earned an Associate’s Degree from Vincennes, and after attending Ivy Tech to complete his 2nd Associates degree, he will attend Vincennes University for Engineering. Mr. Perry is a student at Tabula Rasa in Bedford and is one of three students with stellar graduation results. Emma Baumgart graduated from Indiana State University in 3 years, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sport Management and a minor in Sport Communication. Nolan Korte graduated one year early from Bloomington HS South and has already completed his firefighter training and also graduated from an accelerated Paramedic training program. He is officially a Firefighter and a fully licensed Paramedic.

The scholarship was created in honor of Dr. Stephen Gibson, a student at Tabula Rasa. Dr. Gibson devoted his life to helping others through his missionary work and recently passed away. He inspired Kenneth and Elizabeth to build a scholarship, which was generously funded by Sarah and DeWayne Turpen, Dexter Roberts, On Track Hair Design, Mr. and Mrs. Britt, and Stephanie Gibson, Dr. Gibson’s wife.

Kenneth and Elizabeth are very proud of their students, as their accelerated program fosters leaders for tomorrow in conjunction with international accreditation in several martial arts organizations. Congratulations to all of the graduates!
