VERMILLION COUNTY — A Cayuga man has been sentenced to more than 11 years in prison following a lengthy criminal investigation into child exploitation and abuse, the Indiana State Police Putnamville Post announced today.
Zachary T. McBride, 36, was sentenced on June 25, 2026, in Vermillion County Circuit Court to a total of 5,105 days (approximately 11.5 years) in the Indiana Department of Correction. The sentencing brings a conclusion to a multi-agency investigation that first began nearly three years ago.

The state police investigation was launched after offenses were reported on August 1, 2023. Investigators revealed that McBride had engaged in illicit communications with a minor, allegedly providing money and grocery items in exchange for child pornography.
Following an extensive investigation that required detailed digital forensics work, the Vermillion County Circuit Court issued an arrest warrant for McBride on December 2, 2025. He was taken into custody without incident three days later by the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department and held without bond until his conviction.
McBride was convicted on multiple felony charges, including:
- Possession of Child Pornography (Level 5 Felony with aggravating factors found)
- Possession of Child Pornography (Two counts, Level 6 Felonies)
- Child Seduction (Level 6 Felony)
- Sexual Battery (Level 6 Felony, where the victim was compelled to submit by force or imminent threat)
ISP Master Sergeant Michael Featherling spearheaded the case. Putnamville Post Commander Lieutenant David Cox commended the diligent investigative work of Featherling and praised the collaborative efforts of the Vermillion County Prosecutor’s Office and the local judiciary in securing justice.
State police also recognized Susie’s Place Child Advocacy Center and the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department for their vital assistance throughout the multi-year case.
