BEDFORD — The City of Bedford Board of Public Works and Safety has announced a special public meeting to address several key municipal items, including infrastructure payouts, a new law enforcement appointment, and the formal approval for the city’s upcoming Independence Day celebration.
The special session is scheduled for Thursday, June 25, 2026, at noon. The meeting will be held at the Bedford Municipal Hall, located at 1617 K Street.
According to the official meeting notice, the board will convene to vote on four specific agenda items:
- Paving Contract Payout: Approval of a contract payment to Flynn & Sons Excavating for recently completed city paving work.
- State Road 58 Waterline Infrastructure: Approval of a separate payment to Flynn & Sons Excavating for the waterline relocation project along State Road 58.
- Law Enforcement Personnel: The formal approval and appointment of a new Special Officer to the city’s safety roster.
- Independence Day Fireworks: Approval of the contract and subsequent payment to Wisley Pyrotechnics to secure the city’s July Fourth fireworks display.
The three-member Board of Public Works and Safety oversees municipal spending, infrastructure contracts, and public safety personnel decisions for the city. The current board members serving concurrent four-year terms include:
- Mayor Samuel J. Craig (Elected Official) — Term: Jan. 1, 2024 – Dec. 31, 2027
- Judy Carlisle (Mayoral Appointee) — Term: Jan. 1, 2024 – Dec. 31, 2027
- Charlene Hall (Mayoral Appointee) — Term: Jan. 1, 2024 – Dec. 31, 2027
As a voting session concerning public funds and city business, the midday meeting is open to the general public.
