James Dale Hatfield, 73 of Bedford, passed away on June 19, 2026, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
James was born in Bedford on February 3, 1953, to Oren Dale Hatfield and Dorothy Ann (Williams) Hatfield. James married Sheila (Spinks) Terrell on September 4, 2020, and she survives. James was a 1971 graduate of Bedford High School. Jim attended Western Kentucky University, the Moody Bible Institute, and received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University. Jim was a Baptist minister for 25 years. He loved the Lord, his family, and people; he loved to play music and his harmonica. He enjoyed doing carpenter work, building, and fixing things.
Jim worked at Sears and was currently working at Bedford Home Furnishings. He was a member of Dive Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Hatfield of Bedford, his children, Jesika Hatfield of Crawfordsville, Jody Hatfield of Crawfordsville, Janel Hatfield of Crawfordsville, and Joel Hatfield of Oolitic, his siblings, Gail (Ron) Mundell of Terre Haute, Brenda (Jim) Adams of Coos Bay, Oregon, Timothy Hatfield of Oolitic, an David (Liz) Hatfield of Greenwood, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation was chosen with a celebration of his life at a later date.
