PERU DISTRICT – Indiana State Police Superintendent Anthony M. Scott has announced the promotion of Detective Wendell Beachy to the rank of Sergeant. Beachy earned this promotion through written testing, a competitive interview process, and an overall job evaluation.

Sergeant Beachy will now serve as Investigative Squad Leader, providing direct field supervision and support to District Detectives.
Beachy is a 17-year veteran of the Indiana State Police. He served eleven years as a field detective with the Peru District. Beachy graduated from the Indiana State Police Academy in December 2008 and began his career in the Lafayette District, focusing on road patrol duties across White and Carroll Counties. After two years, he transferred to the Peru District, continuing road patrol work with an emphasis on Miami County. He later spent two years as the meth suppression officer for the Indiana State Police Methamphetamine Suppression Section at the Peru District.
He holds an associate degree in design technology from Ivy Tech and a second associate degree in criminal justice from Indiana University Kokomo.
He resides in Miami County with his wife and three daughters.
