PARAGON — A quiet Morgan County community is at the center of a major law enforcement investigation after a man and a woman were found shot to death inside a home late Tuesday night.
Morgan County Sheriff Rich Myers confirmed that deputies discovered the bodies of the deceased male and female inside a rural residence located in the 1700 block of South Denny Hill Road. The property sits just west of the town of Paragon, near State Road 67.
According to regional emergency dispatches and reports from local authorities, the incident began unfolding at approximately 11:15 p.m. Neighbors in the area contacted law enforcement after overhearing the distinct sound of multiple gunshots echoing from the property.
When Morgan County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene to conduct a welfare check, they entered the residence and discovered the male and female victims, both of whom had sustained mortal gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel were called to the property, where both individuals were officially pronounced dead.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Sheriff Myers has not publicly released the names, relations, or exact ages of either victim, citing the fluid nature of the active investigation and the necessity of notifying next of kin.
