Sarah “Janie” Jane Clifton, 79, passed away Monday, June 15, 2026, at Mitchell Manor.
Born March 16, 1947, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Donald and Marie Lucille (Porter) Vaught. She married Billie Clifton, and he preceded her in death on May 29, 2011.
Janie spent her career as a cook, both at Lonnie’s and for Older Americans Services. She loved all things Mickey Mouse.
Surviving are her siblings, Timothy (Jenny) Vaught of Bloomington, Judith Powell of Mitchell, and Donald Vaught of Michigan; aunt, Mary Francis (Joe) Clip of Columbus; uncle, Leonard (Donna) Porter of Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, and nephew, Greg Vaught, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Brother Jim Russell officiating. Burial will be in Talbott Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
