BEDFORD — A Bedford teenager is facing criminal charges after Walmart surveillance footage captured him and two other minors executing an early-morning alcohol theft, according to police records.

Jacob Gann, 19, is facing charges of theft and minor in possession of alcohol following a Bedford Police Department investigation. An arrest warrant was officially requested for his arrest, and he was detained on Friday, June 12.
The investigation began on May 19, 2026, when Bedford Police Detective Captain Justin Dodd received a digital package containing written documentation, photographs, and video evidence from a Walmart Asset Protection Investigator.
According to the store’s security team, employee alerts were triggered regarding a group of very young-looking individuals wandering near the store’s alcohol section at an unusually early hour.
A retrospective review of store CCTV footage from May 12, 2026, revealed the following sequence:
- 6:10 a.m.: Three young males entered the building together through the General Merchandise (GM) doors.
- The Scout: Two of the males walked directly into the liquor department, while a third male split off to act as a lookout, hiding nearby in the infants’ section.
- The Concealment: The two minors inside the liquor section selected various alcoholic beverages and carried them into the adjacent shoe department aisle. Once the third male joined them, two of the individuals adjusted their clothing to successfully conceal the bottles inside their garments.
- 6:21 a.m.: The trio walked back across the store and exited through the GM doors without making any attempt to pay.
While store security initially only recognized one of the individuals in the video, Bedford Police Detective Major Louden reviewed the footage and immediately identified the other two suspects from a previous case as Jacob Gann and another minor.
On June 3, 2026, Captain Dodd and Major Louden went directly to Gann’s residence to interview him.
According to the affidavit, Gann initially denied taking anything from the store. However, when confronted with the evidence, he confessed to stealing the alcohol. Gann told detectives that both of his accomplices also stole alcohol during the sweep. Ironically, Gann admitted to police that he had explicitly warned his friends in the aisle that they were “going to get caught because of the cameras,” but chose to move forward with the theft anyway.
The investigation quickly wrapped up the following day, on June 4, 2026, when police located the remaining two accomplices at a local residence. Both juveniles were placed in handcuffs and transported to the Bedford Police Department.
One of the juveniles confessed to stealing grape “BuzzBallz”—a brand of premixed single-serve alcoholic cocktails—and confirmed his and Gann’s identities in the security photographs. Because of their juvenile status, one minor was released to a parent with a formal promise to appear in court, while the other faces a separate, ongoing investigation by the department.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This article is based on the information provided in the probable cause affidavit and does not represent a final determination of guilt or innocence.
