BLOOMFIELD — A Bloomfield man is behind bars in Greene County following a four-month investigation into the possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) that also uncovered illegal narcotics.

Chad Rusher, 42, was taken into custody on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, Rusher is facing multiple preliminary criminal charges, including five counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, Level 5 felonies, and possession of meth, a Level 6 felony.
The investigation that culminated in Rusher’s arrest began in February 2026. Greene County Sheriff’s Department Detective Shawn Cullison initiated the case after receiving a specialized cyber-tip and investigative data from the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
The multi-agency task force tracked internet traffic and digital footprints associated with the possession and distribution of explicit material, ultimately tracing the activity to Rusher’s Greene County residence. Upon execution of search warrants this week, investigators discovered the illicit digital files alongside quantities of methamphetamine.
Following his arrest, Rusher was transported to the Greene County Jail, where he is currently being held pending formal statutory filings by the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office.
The Indiana ICAC Task Force is a heavily coordinated, multi-agency unit led by the Indiana State Police. The task force is specifically deployed to investigate and prosecute individuals who use the internet, peer-to-peer networks, and encrypted communication platforms to sexually exploit, traffic, or entice children.
State law enforcement officials note that the volume of digital exploitation cases continues to rise. Each year, Indiana ICAC investigators evaluate thousands of independent cyber-tips, launch hundreds of formal criminal cases, and successfully rescue dozens of children from ongoing physical and digital abuse cycles.
Authorities stress that public vigilance is vital to cutting off trafficking networks. The Indiana ICAC Task Force strongly encourages Hoosiers to report online exploitation, grooming, solicitation, and enticement-type crimes directly to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
Local families who believe their child has been targeted or victimized through the internet, social media apps, or other electronic means are urged to contact their local law enforcement agency immediately to file a report.
