Woman arrested in Sullivan County after allegedly stealing car near Dugger

DUGGER — A woman was taken into custody over the weekend following a brief vehicle theft investigation in Sullivan County.

The incident began on Saturday, June 6, 2026, when authorities received a report of a vehicle stolen from the parking lot of the Westside Christian Church.

Sullivan County law enforcement immediately began patrolling the area for the missing automobile. A short time later, police located the vehicle traveling eastbound on State Road 54, heading directly toward the town of Dugger.

Summer Jerrell

Officers initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as 43-year-old Summer Jerrell. Jerrell was arrested at the scene without further incident. Following her arrest, she was formally charged with unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle and unauthorized control of a motor vehicle.

The vehicle was successfully recovered by law enforcement and has since been safely returned to its rightful owner.
