BLOOMINGTON – The City of Bloomington has released its annual Public Safety Report, a summary of activity and outcomes for the 2025 calendar year, offering residents a clear look at public safety trends, service demand, staffing, facilities, training, and prevention efforts.
The report includes data from the Bloomington Police Department (BPD), Bloomington Fire Department (BFD), and the City’s Community and Family Resources Department (CFRD). It covers calls for service, crime trends, traffic safety, emergency response capacity, alternative response, crisis support, and resource navigation. It also highlights progress in staffing. BFD reached full staffing across all authorized positions in September 2025 for the first time in the last decade, while BPD swore in 11 new officers in June 2025, its largest single recruit class in more than three decades.

“This report gives residents a clearer look at what Bloomington’s public safety system is handling and how the City is responding,” said Mayor Kerry Thomson. “Public safety includes emergency response, but it also includes prevention, staffing, training, facilities, and partnerships that help keep emergencies from repeating.”
The report is available at bton.in/ps2025.
