Mroz, Jeeps mow down Stars 7-1

BNL’s Cam Gates had two hits during a 7-1 loss to Northeast Dubois on Thursday.

DUBOIS – Northeast Dubois ace Brycen Mroz fired a four-hitter as the Jeeps jolted Bedford North Lawrence 7-1 during high school baseball on Thursday.

Mroz (3-0) has not allowed an earned run in six appearances this season. The Stars (7-8) got their only run in the second following an error and bases-loaded walk. Mroz escaped that jam with a strikeout and double play.

NE Dubois (11-4) scored twice in the first as Mroz doubled, setting up a run-scoring groundout by Carson Beck and RBI single by Carter Fuhs. The Jeeps scored two more in the second (Mroz cranked a two-run double) and two more in the fifth (two hits and two walks during the rally).

Mroz struck out eight while going the distance on the mound. Cam Gates had two hits for BNL.

Beck had three hits for the Jeeps.

BNL will host county rival Mitchell during its annual cancer fundraiser game on Friday.
