Bedford Board of Works calls special meeting to address infrastructure and real estate

BEDFORD — The City of Bedford Board of Public Works and Safety has announced a special meeting scheduled for Thursday, May 7, 2026, to move forward on several municipal projects and equipment sales.

The meeting will begin at 12:10 p.m. at the City Concourse, located at 1402 H Street in Bedford.

A significant portion of the agenda focuses on the maintenance and expansion of city-owned properties. Board members are expected to:

  • Street Department Expansion: Approve the official advertisement for construction bids regarding a new Street Department building.
  • Meeting Room Upgrades: Review and accept bids for the purchase of new chairs for the city’s recently completed meeting room.
  • Maintenance Projects: Review bids for two specific cleaning and preservation tasks: painting the catwalk at City Hall and pressure washing the exteriors of both the Meeting Hall and the TASC Building.

In addition to facility maintenance, the Board will handle the disposal of surplus equipment and the acquisition of new land.

  • Fire Department Assets: The Board is slated to approve a formal sale price for a city fire engine being retired from service.
  • Strategic Land Purchase: Members will vote on the approval of a Purchase Agreement for the property located at the corner of John Williams Boulevard and X Street. This project is being handled in coordination with the Redevelopment Commission, which is meeting later that same afternoon to discuss appraisals for the site.

The meeting is open to the public. As this is a special session, the Board will address only the specific items listed on the published agenda.
