Lawrence County schools partner to launch college and career readiness initiative; Seek parent feedback

BEDFORD — In a significant move to bolster the future workforce of Southern Indiana, North Lawrence Community Schools (NLCS) and Mitchell Community Schools have officially partnered to provide comprehensive K–12 college and career exploration opportunities for local students.

The collaboration, facilitated by the Lawrence County Economic Growth Council (LCEGC), aims to establish a county-wide College and Career Readiness Continuum. This initiative is designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and the professional world, ensuring students are better equipped for life after high school, whether they pursue higher education or enter the workforce directly.

The partnership focuses on creating a seamless transition for students as they progress through their academic careers. By integrating career exploration at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, the program provides students with early exposure to various industries and educational pathways.

Organizers emphasize that this unified approach across both school districts allows for a more robust pooling of resources and community partnerships, ultimately benefiting every student in the county.

Following the conclusion of the program’s inaugural year of county-wide events, school officials and the LCEGC are turning to parents to help shape the future of the initiative.

“We value your feedback to help improve future opportunities,” the organizations stated in a joint release. “Please take a brief survey to share how beneficial these experiences were for your child.”

The surveys are designed to be completed in under three minutes. Parents are encouraged to use the links below to provide their input:
