ODON — The Odon community is rallying in support of a local youth following a serious collision involving an electric bicycle and a motor vehicle on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of Elm and Race streets at approximately 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 26. According to dispatch reports, the juvenile was struck by a vehicle and was found unresponsive at the scene with significant head injuries.
First responders provided immediate life-saving care at the crash site before the child was transported to Daviess Community Hospital. Due to the severity of the injuries, the juvenile was subsequently airlifted to a specialized trauma center in Evansville.
As of Monday morning, the child has now been transferred to an Indianapolis hospital for further advanced treatment. Local community members and family friends have shared updates via social media, confirming that the juvenile remains in serious condition and requesting continued prayers.
The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene following the impact and has been cooperating with law enforcement. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved or indicated if any citations are pending.
While the investigation into the cause of the crash continues, the incident has reignited local discussions regarding road safety and the increasing presence of e-bikes in residential areas.
