BNL Unified finishes second in Invitational

BEDFORD – Bedford North Lawrence finished second in its own Invitational during Unified track action on Saturday.

The Stars totaled 117 points. Columbus North won the event with 132 in the five-team event.

“I am very happy with our performances,” BNL coach Mike Branam said. “The kids really turned it up a bit. We had 11 personal bests. Both Josh Morales and Sam Bartley shaved of almost four seconds on their 400 times, while the girls 400 relay (Tempe Thompson, Leighton Dye, Emma Johnson and Ellie Matheny) cut their time by three seconds. The boys relay team (Morales, Isaiah Johnson, David Atintande and Jaxon Donnell) continued their chase for the school record by taking off a second to drop below the 50-second mark.

”These are some tough teams who we will see again in a week or two. There were some really good races, and we just fell a little short. But it is evident that our hard work in practice is paying off. Hopefully we can keep this attitude up for the rest of the season.”

BNL will visit Edgewood on Tuesday.
