MONTGOMERY – Bedford North Lawrence survived tough playing conditions to finish eighth in the Hatchet Invitational during boys high school golf action at Country Oaks on Saturday.
Battling rain and dropping temperatures, the Stars carded 339 in the 13-team field (with four teams withdrawing rather than finish in the elements). Barr-Reeve won the team title on its home course with 316, followed by Forest Park (324), Vincennes Lincoln (325) and Bloomington South (325).
Evan Tillett paced the Stars with a 2-over 74 (finishing tied for third as an individual) on the course that hosts the IHSAA regional.
“Evan played exceptionally well,” BNL coach Trey Turner said. “He had a really good ball striking round on a day where you couldn’t feel your hands on the last nine holes.
“It was extremely tough conditions. I was really proud of the way the guys fought. It would have been pretty easy to quit on the round, when the wind picked up and it was raining sideways, but they all stayed in it.”
Hudson Martin posted 84 and Parker Foddrill carded 88 for BNL.
Barr-Reeve’s Lincoln Miller was the medalist with an even-par 72, while Evansville North’s Hank Schreiber posted 73.
BNL will host New Albany on Thursday.
