BNL boys second, girls seventh at Corydon

BNL’s Paige Voigtschild was second in the 1600 and 3200 races during the Stargazer Invitational.

CORYDON – Bedford North Lawrence finished second in a crowded field in the Stargazer Invitational during boys high school track action on Friday night.

The Stars totaled 73 points. Evansville North won the team title with 99 points in the 17-team field. In the girls meet, BNL was seventh among the 18 teams with 34 points. Edgewood won the team crown with 136 points.

In the boys meet, Tripp Stahl was a double winner for BNL. He took the shot put with a throw of 50-0, then claimed the discus with a throw of 156-5.

Other top finishers for BNL included Orion Hill (second in discus on 144-1), Ben Conner (second in high jump at 5-8), and Luke Morris (third in the 110 high hurdles at 16.18 and third in the 300 low hurdles at 41.91).

In the girls meet, BNL’s top finisher was Paige Voigtschild, who was second in the 1600 (5:09.87) in a duel with Edgewood’s Hannah Crain (5:09.28). Voigtschild was also second in the 3200 in 11:58.43.

BNL will compete in the Eastern Greene Invitational on Tuesday.
