BLOOMINGTON – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office requested this morning that Indiana State Police Bloomington Post Detectives initiate an investigation into the death of a Monroe County Correctional Center inmate.
Approximately 12:40 a.m., Antonio M. Davis, Age 48, was found unresponsive in his bed. Staff from the Correction Center assessed his condition and began life-saving measures while contacting Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Upon EMS arrival, medical care was transferred, and life-saving measures were continued. Those measures were unsuccessful.
Monroe County Sheriff Ruben Marte was advised of Davis’s death, and to ensure agency transparency, the sheriff directed that detectives and crime scene investigators from the Indiana State Police be contacted to conduct a full investigation. The death of Davis remains under investigation, and an autopsy is pending.
