Oolitic Town Council to hold closed executive session for economic development

OOLITIC The Oolitic Town Council has announced an upcoming executive session scheduled for Wednesday, April 8, 2026. The meeting is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. EDT and will be held at the Railroad Cafe.

In accordance with transparency laws regarding private deliberations, officials have noted that this session is not open to the public.

The primary agenda for the meeting involves high-level discussions regarding the town’s economic future. Specifically, the council will engage in interviews and negotiations with individual or commercial prospects, or their representing agents.

The council is exercising its right to meet behind closed doors under the authority of Indiana Code §5-14-1.5-6.1(4). This specific statute allows governing bodies of political subdivisions to conduct private sessions when dealing with sensitive economic development negotiations, ensuring that the town’s competitive position is maintained during the recruitment of new business.

While the executive session itself is private, any formal action or final votes resulting from these discussions must be taken during a subsequent public meeting.
