BEDFORD — The Bedford Police Department Pension Board is scheduled to convene Thursday afternoon to address several personnel matters, headlined by the potential appointment of a new officer to the city’s police force.
The meeting, set for 1:30 p.m. on April 2, 2026, will begin with a private executive session to review the medical records of applicant James Ball. Following the confidential review, the board will transition into a public session to formally vote on hiring Ball as a police officer. If the board moves forward with the hire, the appointment remains contingent upon final approval from the Public Employees’ Retirement Fund (PERF).
The session will be presided over by Chairperson Mayor Sam Craig, alongside Treasurer Billie Tumey and Police Chief Terry Moore. The board’s voting body also includes Secretary Brian Turpen, Major Jeremy Bridges, Captain Drew Lemke, Major Blake Wade, Col. Joe DeWees, and retired officer Rob Herr.
While the executive session is closed to the public to protect sensitive medical information, the public portion of the meeting will be accessible to residents via a live stream on the City of Bedford’s official YouTube channel or Facebook page.
